Newman Neal 93, of Island, Kentucky passed away Friday, August 9, 2024 at Signature Healthcare of Hartford. Harris Newman Neal was born Jun3 7, 1931 in Island, Kentucky to the late Matt H. and Polly Allen Neal, the youngest of four sons and was better known as ‘Newman’ to both his family and friends.
Newman was drafted into the U.S. Navy right after high school, where he proudly served in the Korean War. He attended veterinary school for two years, was a carpet layer by trade, and also a trainer of thoroughbred horses for many years.
Newman loved fishing and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He lived a full and interesting life. Newman was loved and will be missed.
Newman is survived by a son, Jack Neal (Sandy) of Meridian, Idaho; a daughter, Chris Franklin (Rick) of Pine, Idaho; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Island Community Cemetery in McLean County. There will be no public visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Newman’s family.
