
Loretta Ann Rhoades, 85, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2024 in Greenville, Kentucky. She was born August 11, 1939 in Deanfield, KY to the late Kerney Rhoades and Jessie Lee Spurrier Rhoades Hagan. She was a resident of Owensboro for most of her life. Loretta retired as an Assistant Administrator of Fern Terrace Nursing Home, where she worked for 28 years. She spent the years after her retirement providing personal care for first, her mother, then her companion “Jr.” Kirk until their deaths. Loretta loved animals especially dogs and cats. She always had a beloved pet by her side. Her favorite activities were playing Bingo and feeding the birds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, David Rhoades (his wife, Louise) and Rommie Lee Rhoades.
She is survived by her nephews and nieces, Michael Rhoades (Laura), David Allen “Toby” Rhoades (Sandy), Bobby Rhoades (Joy), Debbie Fulkerson (Danny), Lorrie Bradley, Karen Connor (Jim), Steve Rhoades, Kim Pierce, and Myra Rodriguez (Earven); sister-in-law, Betty Rhoades Bowen; cousin, Anne Stewart; special friends, Judy Kirk and Barbara Brearley; and numerous grand and great-nieces and nephews;
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Cates Cemetery in Whitesville, KY. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of the Reflections Unit at Maple Health and Rehab in Greenville, KY for their compassion and great care shown to Loretta during the last two years of her life.
