Maxine Morehead Price

January 5, 1925 - April 15, 2019

Maxine Morehead Price, 94, of Owensboro was called Home by God while lovingly surrounded by her children on Monday, April 15, 2019, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on January 5, 1925, in Ravenswood, West Virginia to the late Holly E. and Amy Patterson Morehead. Maxine graduated as Salutatorian from Ravenswood High School and Magna Cum Laude from Marshall University with a Bachelors of Arts degree. She received her Master’s Degree in counseling from West Virginia University. Between 1945 and 1954, Maxine taught band, chorus, music, typing and bookkeeping in several schools in West Virginia. In 1954, she and her husband, Jerry, moved to Owensboro. From 1967 to 1975 she taught music at Washington (Sutton) Elementary School. She retired from the Owensboro School System to care for her mother.
Maxine was an active member of First Presbyterian church since 1956. She served as an elder, clerk of the session, church treasurer for 10 years and became the first woman moderator for the deacons. She was active in the choir, hand bell choir, played piano for the Men’s Bible Class, and participated in the Prime Timers and Spirit Lifters groups. Maxine also served on the board of directors of the Owensboro Concert Association, Mary Kendall Home and the United Way.
Maxine enjoyed the symphony concerts and plays at the River Park Center. For over nineteen years, she participated in several classes at the Health Park. She enjoyed family gatherings and was a master at Parcheesi and croquet with a fiery, competitive spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Gerald A. Price, in December of 2016. Her sister, Lois Larson, passed away in November of 2015.
She is survived by her son, Gerald “Jerry/Jeep” A. Price, III (Glenda) of Owensboro, her daughter, Patti Price of Utica, her three grandchildren, Holly Price of Cincinnati, OH, Lindsey Price of Louisville, KY, and Gerald “Jerry” A. Price IV (Micah) of Utica, KY. She has one great grandson, Jackson Price of Utica, KY
Visitation at Glenn Funeral Home will be Friday, April 19 from 12:00 until 6:00 PM, CST. Saturday, the visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, CST. The Celebration of Life Service will be at the church, 11:00 AM CST, followed by lunch in the fellowship hall. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 2:00 PM Saturday.
