
Cecil Brown, 87, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Sergent, KY on January 16, 1937, to the late Arlie Lee and Virgie Craft Brown. Cecil was a retired nightclub owner, where he launched 6 successful nightclubs, bringing unique entertainment to the Evansville, Indiana area during the 70’s and 80’s. Cecil enjoyed fishing, restoring John Deer tractors, shooting pool, being outdoors, and summer holiday cookouts.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Aline Virgina Moore Brown; son Donnie Ray Brown; his granddaughter Jennifer Renee Brown; his great-grandson Logan Blake Adams; his brothers David M. Brown, Reverend Maynard Brown, Arlie Lee Brown, Jr., Archie C. Brown; his sisters Amy Alexander, Gracie Evans, and Pricy Eley.
Cecil is survived by his son Robert (Jennifer) Brown; daughter Catherine Irene Smith; daughter-in-law Carla Brown; grandchildren Janette (Mike), Stacy (Carl), Travis, Trevor, Wendy (Brock), Katie (Michael), and Sandy; great-grandchildren Noah, Dylan, Brett, Evan, Kayla, Wes, Kimberly, Peyton, Holden, Lincoln, Mikya, Preston, Jazmin, and Kaitlyn; great-great-grandchild Asher; brother Fred (Linda) Brown; special friend Brenda Clark; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 3-7 PM, and Wednesday, from 11 AM until the time of service, at the funeral home.
