Mary Hamilton Stogsdill Faulkner 97, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024, while residing at the Carmel Home.
She was born in Whitesville to the late Patrick Hamilton and Mary Genevieve Howard Hamilton on March 14, 1927. Mary spent the last 13 years at Carmel Home where she participated in many activities and special events and served as the Carmel Home Valentine Queen in 2013.
She was a member of St. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church where she shared her talents as the music librarian, was a member of the bereavement team, and participated in perpetual adoration as well as daily Mass. Mary and Gordon enjoyed being active in the Young at Heart group with their parish family. She gave 47 years of service to Ken-Rad, GE, and MPD starting to work at 16 yrs. of age. Mary made many life-long friends while employed and after moving to Carmel Home reconnected with some of those friends, as well as schoolmates from Snowball School, who also lived at Carmel Home. Family time was so special to her, and she treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren especially holidays when she prepared delicious feasts. She especially loved her role as Grandma. Mary always enjoyed her visits to the family lake house as well as family dinners and celebrations. She enjoyed working in her flowers and cooking for family and friends, especially baking. She will always be remembered for her famous Red Velvet cake.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will always be remembered for her faith and integrity which she instilled in all who knew her. She felt privileged to attend daily Mass. Her love of the Catholic faith was evident in her prayer life and time spent in adoration at the Carmel Home chapel. Mary was the family “prayer warrior” and was instrumental in both of her husband’s converting to Catholicism prior to their deaths. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harlan Carl Stogsdill, on Dec. 14, 1983, and her second husband, Horace Gordon Faulkner, on June 16, 2010, and her siblings, Agnes Howard, Ruby Robertson, and Bernard Hamilton.
Mary is survived by her son, Jack Stogsdill (Vicki) of Stanley, and their daughters, Jamie Stogsdill Saxton (William) of Chattanooga TN., Lyndsay Stogsdill Booker (Josh) and their son Keller, Jacqueline Stogsdill and her daughter Addison all of Owensboro. Her daughter, Donna Stogsdill Roby (JR.) of Owensboro, and their sons Nick Roby (Melissa) of Owensboro and Kyle Roby (Karen) of Bowling Green and their son Ryan.
