
Betty Mullen-Barr, 87, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care – Heartford House. The Daviess County native was born September 23, 1936, to the late Carl and Gladys Mayfield. Betty was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church; and she loved reading and listening to audiobooks.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Phillip Mullen; second husband, Charlie Barr; daughter, Darlene Wells; and siblings, Eddie Mayfield, Joyce Aaron, John Oberst, Michael Oberst, Faye Goodman, and Fred Mayfield.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (Bobby) Lomax; stepchildren, Steve Barr, Paula Martin, and Cindy Brumley; siblings, Linda (John) Walker, Sheryl (John) Hatalla, and Jerry (Dot) Mayfield; grandchildren, Phillip (Patty) Evans, Salanda (Lee) Bowman, Carissa (Jason) Yount, Brant (Jamie) Boehmann, and Kara (Scott) Novak; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family extends many warm thanks to the Heartford House and Hospice and Palliative Care – Western KY for their tenderness and kindness.
The funeral mass for Betty will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of mass.
