
Elizabeth (Betty) Jenkins Redding, 77, of Owensboro passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 26, 2024. She was born in Owensboro on November 10, 1946 to the late Elbert H. and Lydia Hagan Jenkins.
Betty graduated from Owensboro High School in 1964 and attended Kentucky Wesleyan College. She began working for BellSouth in 1965. She later transferred to Louisville and continued working for BellSouth for 31 years as a Contract Coordinator until she retired in 1996. Betty then moved to Amelia Island, FL in 1997 where she lived for 24 years. She returned to Owensboro in 2021 to be near family. Betty enjoyed travel, movies, playing cards, and taking care of her flowers.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, David Jenkins and Carl “Tony” Jenkins; and a sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Emberton.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Ronald “Ronnie” Redding; one daughter, Kelly (David) Nussmeier of Evansville, IN; two grandsons, Ryan (Mallory) Padgett of Upton, KY and Stephen (Joan) Padgett of Owensboro; five great-granddaughters, Kloe Padgett and Kortney Padgett of Clarkson, KY, Brooke Padgett of Upton, KY, Natalie Padgett and Willow Padgett of Owensboro; one great-grandson, Thomas Siljander of Owensboro; three sisters, Martha (David) Tichenor, Marylinnie “Linnie” Swift, and Janice (Tommy) Conrey all of Owensboro; two brothers, Martin Ray (Sherry) Jenkins and William Earl “Billy” Jenkins, both of Owensboro; one brother-in-law, Donnie (Debbie) Redding of Louisville, one sister-in-law, Shirley Rice of Lanesville, IN; and 15 nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel.
