Karen Duvall 70, of Calhoun, Kentucky entered the gates of heaven on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 surrounded by her army of family that loved her very much at her home near Calhoun. Karen Yvonne Conrad was born September 6, 1953 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late George David and Audra Lois Vanover Conrad and was married to her soulmate, lover of her life and caretaker, Bobby Ray Duvall on March 5, 1993. Karen was a very strong, loving, hard-headed woman that loved her lord and savior and was a beacon of warmth and love to all who knew her.

Karen dedicated 39 years of her life to her career at General Electric in Madisonville, retiring on October 3, 2013. Her commitment to workplace safety was unwavering, as she became an OSHA trainer, sharing her knowledge and passion with her colleagues. Karen’s professional life was marked not only by her dedication to her work but also by the lasting relationships she built with those she served alongside.

Beyond her professional achievements, Karen’s interests were a reflection of her love for home and the simple pleasures in life. She found joy in being at her home, surrounded by family, friends, and her beloved Great Pyrenees dog, Max. Karen had a special flair for decorating her home for Christmas, bringing the spirit of the season alive with her festive touch and open heart. Her home was a hub of hospitality, where she delighted in entertaining guests and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

An avid reader and collector, Karen enjoyed books and adorned her home with bird decorations and dishes, each piece telling a story of her gentle spirit. Her adventures outdoors took her on trips that she loved out west and on many camping trips with friends, exploring the beauty of nature.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence. A member of Knobbs Church of God of Prophecy, Karen lived her faith through service. She was instrumental in sharing God’s mercy, lending her talents to the planning of Christmas parade church floats and the production of Easter and Christmas plays. Her creative ideas and organizational skills were gifts she gave freely in her service to her church community.

Karen entered and left this world loving God, and her life was a testament to her unwavering faith. Her spirit, imbued with kindness and generosity, will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and faith that will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by a sister, VeLoyce Whitmer Keown.

Karen is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bobby Duvall; a daughter, Bridget Eubanks (Farren) of Elba; a step daughter, Andrea Abney (Zanner) of Calhoun; four step grandchildren, McKenze Daugherty, Jessica Marshall (Ben), Kyle Eubanks (Lili), and Dalton Eubanks (Haylee); two step great-grandchildren, Karter Eubanks and Cooper Eubanks; a sister, Latricia Duckworth (Jeff) of Calhoun; a brother, Mathus Conrad (Cati) of Madisonville; as well as several nieces and nephews that she cherished.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the New Cypress Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Karen’s family from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Friday and from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.

Karen’s family would like to offer a special thank you to Andrea Abney and McKenze Daugherty for being there every step of the way. They both provided love and care for their nana, while mourning themselves. The family would also like to thank the nurses at Owensboro Hospital (Mallory and Jessica) that took such special care of both Karen and her family as well as Hosparus of Madisonville.
