Ronald L. “Ronnie” Goetz, 72, passed away peacefully September 2, 2024, at the Carmel Home with his family lovingly by his side. Born June 25, 1952, to Mary Esther and Norbert “Boonie” Goetz, he lived his life in Owensboro, KY with his two siblings Jim (Kelley) Goetz and Diane (Steve) Hendrix.
Ronnie is survived and missed by his wife of 53 years, Karen Goetz; son Chad (Audrey) Goetz and two daughters, Melissa Goetz and Laura Beth (Beau) Mitchell. Forever remembered and cherished by his four grandchildren, Colby Goetz, Maren Riney, Levi and Charlea Mitchell and several nieces and nephews.
Married fifty-three years, Ronnie patiently waited till his 19th birthday to marry his bride. A true tribute to his love and admiration for his heart and soul, the love of his life, Karen. Strong faith and church were important to Ronnie and Karen. They cultivated and centered these values with their children and grandchildren. While he enjoyed his work as a Millwright Local 1080, as well as Alcoa, he was always a farmer at heart. He took pride in living on the family farm in Philpot. He loved working outdoors, was a dedicated gardener, and known for his green thumb. He hated Johnsongrass with a passion!
Ronnie loved Karen’s delicious cooking, and she enjoyed making all his favorite meals from the bountiful gardens he kept year after year. Something they always shared and cherished together. Although not a “great” swimmer, he loved to float and relax in the lake, spending time with his family and friends … enjoying cold beers, great food and laughs.
If he wasn’t at church, working on the farm or enjoying the outdoors … You could find him watching John Wayne Western movies or catch him in his shop … staying busy with projects, visiting with friends and neighbors and enjoying an ice-cold Pabst Blue Ribbon. He loved spending time and sharing laughs with all those that loved him dearly. Ronnie was strong-willed, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal and strong. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them–and if you knew him, you knew him.
In retirement, he and Karen enjoyed spending time in Ft. Myers at their beach house, where they made lifelong friendships and quickly found a Florida family there with lasting memories.
