Carol Heppler

Carol Heppler 69, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the Heartford House in Owensboro. Carol Blythe Anderson was born January 27, 1955 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Victor Emanuel and Peggy Love Mitchell Anderson and was married to Mark William Heppler on March 12, 1977. Carol was a city girl by birth, but she grew to adore the peacefulness and privacy of country life.

A graduate of Daviess County High School in 1973, Carol’s leadership shone brightly as she served as captain of the cheerleading squad. Her academic journey continued at the University of Tennessee before she graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College. Carol furthered her education by obtaining her Masters and Rank 1 from Western Kentucky University, showcasing her commitment to lifelong learning.

For 11 years, Carol dedicated herself to shaping young minds as a 4th-grade teacher at Calhoun Elementary School. Her passion for education and her students was evident in her every action within the classroom. Upon retirement, she joined her husband in the chicken business and also volunteered at the Treasure House in Calhoun.

Carol loved sports, watching old television shows and especially trips to the casino. She was a supporter of University of Kentucky and SEC sports, a devoted fan of Kentucky Wesleyan University Basketball, and had an unwavering love for Indianapolis Colts Football. Her admiration for Peyton Manning was so fervent that she continued to follow his career even when he moved to Denver.

The annual Anderson Family Christmas trips were a highlight for Carol, a tradition she always looked forward to and cherished deeply. At home, she found joy in entertaining friends and family at her pool. Carol’s love for travel was expansive, as she visited all 50 states, several of them multiple times and many foreign countries.

Carol’s caring nature extended to her furry companions as well; she loved caring for all of her cats, who provided her with comfort and companionship over the years. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a member of Owensboro Christian Church.

Carol impacted those around her. She didn’t consider herself a social butterfly; however, those that had a chance to know her always enjoyed her company and personality. She will be missed.

Carol is survived by her husband of 47 years, Mark Heppler; two brothers, Victor Anderson of Azusa, California and Mitch Anderson (Linda) of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Donna Wampler (Paul) of Wapella, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Byron Heppler (Shelly) of Calhoun; three sisters-in-law, Connie Wethington, Kathy Kolter, and Laura O’Bryan all of Owensboro; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
