Gerald Mitchell “Jerry” Walker, age 87 of Balltown, KY passed away September 9, 2024 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 10, 1937, son of the late Elizabeth Margaret Kropog and Mitchell Joseph Walker. He was a pipefitter who retired after many years at the Charleston Naval Ship Yard. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He enjoyed activities with his sons and grandsons, music and playing his guitar, was an avid skeet and trapshooter and kept his family laughing, as he was quite the jokester.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half sister Dianne Brown.
Jerry is survived by his wife Cassie Mattingly Walker of Balltown, KY
2 sons: Kevin William Walker (Eleni) of Burbank, CA and Peter Mitchell Walker (Deborah) of Goose Creek, SC
8 grandchildren: Joshua Mitchell Walker (Molli), Jonah Riley Walker (Chelsea), Jacob Bailey Walker, Peter Landry Walker, Dameon DeBose, Dmitri DeBose, Tiffany Morales and Vyktorya McLaughlin
3 great grandchildren: Elloree, Olive, Hallie Jo and Aime who is due January 28, 2025.
Many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families also survive.
Funeral services will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church in Cloverport, KY on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will be in the St. Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 4- 8 PM and Wednesday, 8 – 10AM. The rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7 PM.
