Gary Dennis Dugger, 78, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born October 16, 1945 in Madisonville to the late L.V. and Maude Cecilia Dugger. Dennis was a member of the former Zion United Church of Christ and attended Unity Fellowship Church. He retired from the Daviess County Public Schools where he taught as a science and math teacher at Daviess County Middle School and College View Middle School. He also taught at Daymar College. Gary was past president of the Daviess County Teacher’s Association. Gary graduated from Owensboro High School in 1964 and Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1968. He received a Master’s Degree and Rank I from Western Kentucky University. Gary enjoyed genealogy research, working crossword puzzles and watercolor painting. He was an avid New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gaylia Hills Dugger; daughters, Stacey Schulte and Heather Boutell (Steve); son, Chris Dugger; grandchildren, Emilee Schulte, McKenzie Steckler (Jeremy), Andrew Dugger, Keaton Dugger, Jonah Boutell, and Ben Boutell; sister, Donna Wells; brother, L.V. Dugger III (Vickie); and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Steve Boutell officiating. Visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
