Susan Marie Rode

Susan Marie Rode, 99, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 under the care Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born in Daviess County on February 25, 1920 to the late William Jefferson and Eva Catherine Lancaster Mullican. Marie was a member of the Catholic faith having attended both St. Stephen and Immaculate parishes. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and other games with her friends and family.

Along with her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband in 1958, John P. “Jack” Rode; her grandchild, Sherrie Rode; her brothers, Charles, Martin, Joseph, and William Mullican; and her sisters, Dorothy Settles, Anna Jean Hepler, Barbara Honan, and Betty Neal.

Marie is survived by her children, John P. (Kerry Wicks) Rode, II, of Toronto, Canada, James P. (Shelly) Rode, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; her grandchildren, John P. (AdriAnn) Rode, III, Jessica Rode, Mikayla Wicks, Koryn Wicks, Ashley Singleton, Jordan (Ben) Rosenau, Jack Philip (Lucia) Rode, Emma Marie Rode; and her great-grandchildren, Savanna Rode, Chloe McKee, John “Jack” Rode, IV, and Marie Eva Rosenau.

Services will be 9:00 am Saturday, April 27, 2019 at St. Stephen Cathedral, with Father Jerry Riney officiating. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, April 26, 2019 at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Prayers will be 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
