
Phillip Wayne Dowell, age 76 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away September 17, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin. He was born in Louisville, KY on April 22, 1948, son of the late Theodore and Cecile Roberts Dowell. He attended Horsley Chapel Global Methodist Church. Phillip wore many hats over the span of his working career – he was a mechanic, a delivery man for Velvet Milk and Lays Potato Chips, service manager for Bob Haynes, Dan Powers GM and Blancett Motor, parts manager for Interstate and a grounds keeper at Fort Knox. Phillip loved nature and the outdoors, with spring being his favorite time of the year. His heart was so full of love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and time spent with them was priceless.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great granddaughter Haivyn Booth and his siblings Margie Gentry (Charley), Wanda Wagoner (Timmy), Ronnie Dowell, Bobbie Carol Shartzer and Mike Dowell.
Phillip is survived by Anna Margaret, his wife of 57 ½ years.
3 daughters: Angie Lindley (Deane) of Clarkson, KY; Dana Whitworth (Randy Gilbert) of Elizabethtown, KY and Amy Harned (Pat) of Rineyville, KY.
5 grandchildren: Sarah Scheible (T C), Jessi Booth (Eddie), Dakota Lindley (Sara), Baylee Emerick (Casey), Emily Harrington, (Brian Baker).
17 great grandchildren: Aubrey, Case, Barrett, Luke, Ellie, Emma, Braxton, Trenton, Korbyn, Drayven, Ava, Julian, Jonah, Marlee, Maisee who is due in October, Corraline, Alex and Lana.
3 sisters-in-law: Janet Dowell and Wanda Dowell of Hardinsburg, KY and Gloris Reis of Hartford City, IN
Many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
Funeral services will be held at Horsley Chapel Global Methodist Church on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1 PM with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, 4-8 PM and Friday, 9 AM – 1 PM.
