OLD HICKORY, TN., Wendell Joe Jernigan, 89, of Old Hickory, TN passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Charter Senior Living in Hermitage, TN. He was born on June 24, 1935 in Muhlenberg County the son of Shell Jernigan and Mable Pearl Foley Jernigan. He had been a service manager for Western Auto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 brothers, 8 sisters-in-law, 5 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Barbara Sears Jernigan of Old Hickory, TN., 2 daughters Linda Jernigan of Shelbyville, TN and Diana (Mark) Cunningham of Old Hickory, TN., a grandson Eric Seal, a granddaughter Rhianna Williams, a great granddaughter Emma Rose Cooper, 2 sisters Betty Benningfield of Hodgenville and Janice Grace of Greenville, a sister-in-law Judy Lane Jernigan of Greenville, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1pm Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Greenville with Rev. Tom Stovall officiating. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
