James Leonard “Toehead” Brown, age 75 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away September 26, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Hardinsburg, KY on July 18, 1949, son of the late Morton Brown and Kathleen Glasscock Likens. He was a member of the Shriners, Scottish Rite and Breckinridge Lodge # 67. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served during the Vietnam Era. Toehead was a truck driver who transported oversize loads for Kentucky Specialized Haulers. He was a former employee of Lafayette and Legacy Golf Courses where he was a mechanic and machine operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working and watching Star Trek. He was a lifelong Democrat who was a strong Trump supporter. Toehead loved to entertain his family – some prefer to say that he loved to aggravate – but loved them the same.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Destiny Brown, his siblings Judy Sego, Shirley Hill and Samuel “Shorty” Brown.
Toehead is survived by his children: Danielle Saltsman (Joey) of Leitchfield, KY; James Kelly Brown (Susan) of Princeton, TX and Mark Brown (Adriana) of Orlando, FL
6 grandchildren: James Jordan Brown, Brittney Saltsman, Katelyn Saltsman, Tyler Saltsman, Cora Brown and Apollo Brown.
8 great grandchildren: Raelynn Saltsman, Blake Hunt, Hazel Corbin, Kayden Corbin, Aaiden Saltsman, Ryder Saltsman, Callie Jewell and Hannah Houchens.
The mother of his children: Mary Agnes Brown of Leitchfield, KY
1 brother: Donnie Brown (Freda) of Hardinsburg, KY
2 sisters: Linda Wheatley of Louisville, KY and Vicky West of Hardinsburg, KY
Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 11 AM with military honors to follow. Visitation will be held on Monday, 3:30 – 8 PM and Tuesday, 8 – 11 AM. A Masonic service will be held on Monday at 7 PM. All times are central.
