Barbara Ann Cook Whitt

February 4, 1937 - April 27, 2019

Barbara Ann Cook Whitt, 82, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Owensboro while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born on February 4, 1937 in Owensboro to the late Charles Emmett and Edna Reed Bell Cook. Barbara was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She worked at Burnett Personnel in Houston, TX where she was a personnel recruiter; at Holbrooke, Wible and Sullivan as a paralegal; at Higdon, Clark and Associates as a secretary; at KY Wesleyan College as Assistant Director of News & Public Relations, and at Texas Gas where she was a secretary. Barbara volunteered for Junior League of Owensboro where she served as recording secretary, vice-president and president and various other organizations. She was also a Kentucky Colonel.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thomas Whitt, Sr.

Survivors include her son, Robert T. Whitt, Jr. of Owensboro; daughter, Virginia Reed Whitt-Martinez of Miami, FL; grandchildren, Alejandra Virginia Martinez, Robert Beckwith Martinez, Xavier Cesar Martinez, Edgar Roberto Martinez Jr., Austin M. Whitt, Robert T. Whitt III, and Kirby T. Whitt; and a brother, William C. Cook of Owensboro.

There will be no service or visitation. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
