Coleman Cooper, Sr., peacefully passed away in his home under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky, on Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was born in Hancock County on January 21, 1931, to the late Thomas and Clara (Head) Cooper.
Coleman was self-employed. He was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Korea. Coleman loved hunting and fishing, telling jokes, and, of course, horse racing.
Coleman was a loving husband, father, and Pap. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ford Cooper, and several siblings, Malcolm Cooper, Leon Cooper, Sherman Cooper, Nancy Hartneck, Thelma Burden, and infant sister, Opal May.
Those left to cherish Coleman’s memory include his children, Cathy Cooper, Cindi (Scott) Hamonds, and Coleman (Donna) Cooper, Jr; his grandchildren, Jay (Joy) Greenwell, Jonathon (Natalie) Greenwell, Amanda ( Parker) Tilford, Stephen (Felisha) Locker, Katie (Aaron) Rafferty; his brother, Franklin Cooper, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2:30 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory. Family and friends are welcome to visitation from 12:30 pm until the time of service, at the funeral home, on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
