Ernest W. Gillians, Jr., 91, of Owensboro, passed away April 27, 2019 at home. He was born January 18, 1928 in Owensboro to the late Ernest Sr. and Myrtle Gillians. Ernest retired from the Army after serving 27 years and was in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. His job during that time was a Motion Picture Photographer. He was a member of the Stone Seeker and enjoyed community work through his church, Seven Hills Baptist Church, where for several years he helped with the food pantry. Ernest loved his children and grand children and enjoyed helping those in need.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alicia Gillians; a son, Lawrence Patrick Gillians and brother, Joseph Herbert Gillians.
Ernest is survived by his children, Patricia Cervelle, Gerald Dean Gillians (Yvonne) and Lisa Sigar; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brothers, James Robert Gillians, Gerald Dean Gillians (Kitty); sister, Jo Ann Young (George) and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
