Shirley Settle 81, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024 at the Heartford House in Owensboro. Shirley Ann Galloway was born April 30, 1943 in Panther, Kentucky to the late Elbert and Sarah Elizabeth Pryor Galloway and was married to Stanley Elmo Settle on July 26, 1963 and was a former Miss McLean County. She was a Christian and served as a Teachers’ Assistant at Audubon Elementary for years and a former employee of Southern Bell. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed attending events with her grandchildren, flower gardening, and a U.K.and K.W.C. Basketball fan, and a member of Junior League of Owensboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Stanley Settle on February 23, 2023, daughter, Stacie Ann Settle; sister, Joyce Travis; two nephews, Chris Brockman and Teddy Ellis.
Shirley is survived by two sons, Stan Settle (Emily) of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Scott Settle (Shanna) of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Colben, Emerson, Kali, Addison, Reese; sister, Peggy Brockman (Gene) of Elsberry, MO; nieces, Dara Howard (Jerrol) of Calhoun and Holli Travis Hammond; nephews, Joe Brockman and Chad Travis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Shirley’s family from 10:00 A.M. until services Tuesday at Musters in Calhoun.
