Windell “Chip” Gossett, 79, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at his home. He was born July 10, 1945 in McLean County to the late William Gardner and Mary Magdaline Ellis Gossett. Chip was retired as a truck driver for many years with Baskins-Robbins and Field’s Packing Co. and was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Viet Nam War. He enjoyed participating in pony pulling and going to Ellis Park to the horse races. Chip loved spending time with friends and family especially his grandchildren, going to family reunions, and he also was a very caring person for his extended family. Chip also loved going on vacations to Florida with his wife.
Chip was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dani Simon, a son, Greg Wink, and five brothers and sisters, T. C. Gossett, Billy Gossett, Kenneth Gossett, Nancy Pogue, and Betty Joyce Devine.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Linda Gossett; two daughters, Anita Rhinerson (Jim) and Annette Simmons all of Owensboro; three sons, Craig Simmons (Susan), Clint Simmons, and Chris Simmons, all of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Also his legacy will live on forever through numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday, November 4, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery Mausoleum with full military honors. Visitation will be from 2 PM until 6 PM Sunday and from 9 AM until the time of the service Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
