It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Helen Lyles, on November 24, 2024, at the age of 94. Helen was born on November 10, 1930, in Bonnertown, Tennessee, to the late Oliver Alvin and Alice Belew.
A devoted wife to the late William Harold (Bill) Lyles, and an extraordinary mother to Cynthia (Jerry) Parker of Lewisport, Greta (Dale) Beech of Corbin, Melissa (Johnny) Norris of Lewisport, Bridget Lyles of Godfrey, Illinois and William Wade Lyles of Owensboro. Helen is also survived by her brother Ronnie (Janet) Belew of Des Moines, Iowa.
Helen dedicated her life to her family. She was a kind, nurturing mother, known for her love of sewing, quilting and gardening. She was a member of the Hancock County band boosters and quarterback club and was a proud member of the United Methodist Church in Lewisport.
Helen was a cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren who will forever remember her warmth, wisdom, and support.
She was preceded in death by her husband William H. “Bill” Lyles; daughter Leah Lyles Schwindel; brother, O.A. Belew.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel with burial following in Lewisport Cemetery. Helens family will be greeting friends from 10 am until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or Lewisport Methodist Church.
