Allen Lee Mason, 81, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at his home. He was born October 17, 1943 in Morgantown to the late Ellek and Pauline Johnson and was raised by William J. Mason and Sissy Johnson Payne. Allen retired from Commonwealth Aluminum and was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Allen enjoyed bowling, watching Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tinkering outside in his garage and making homemade knives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Herbert Payne; brother, Wayne Mason; niece, Teresa Bennett; and a nephew, Michael Bennett.
He is survived by his three children, Gail Payne (Phillip), Charles Mason (Beth), and Glenn Mason (Lori); 11 grandchildren, Trevor, Jennifer, Jessica, Cristal, Hunter, Cory, Natulie, Kinsley, Joseph, Sebastian, and Piper (Bryce); 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Bennett; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation is from 10 to 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
