Janice M. Mullican

Janice M. Mullican, 64, of Owensboro, passed peacefully on December 9th, 2024 after a short yet vigorous battle with cancer. Jan was the ninth child of the late Hugh and Naomi Ebelhar. Born and raised in Daviess County, Jan graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School during which she met her now husband, Ricky. Following school, she soon after began employment with AT&T where she held many titles throughout her 30+ year career while simultaneously raising and growing her family. However, her greatest titles were awarded at home. She was commonly known as “Momma Jan” by a multitude of children whose lives she impacted through her own kids, their friends, and family.

Once retired, Jan devoted the majority of her time to doting on her grandchildren who lovingly called her “Jamma”. Her weekends were typically spent shopping for “hidden treasures” as she was a collector of all things, filling her red coin bag at the poker table after dealing a few hands of Black Jack, and making unforgettable memories with her family. With her witty banter, strong-willed personality, and head strong independence, Jan was absolutely one of a kind. She quite often assumed the positions of the organizer, scheduler, and coordinator. Jan thoroughly found joy in being the glue of her family. Her humor, her selfless giving heart, and her presence will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh & Naomi Ebelhar, along with her nephew, Christopher Wimsatt.

She leaves behind an abundance of broken hearts who will forever cling to the memories she’s given them, including her husband of 40 years, Ricky Mullican; her daughters, Alison (Kayle) Hardesty, and Kasey Mullican; her grandchildren, Kinley Jenkins, Oakley Henson, Rhett Hardesty, Katie Cobb, Becka Hardesty, and Maverick Hardesty; her siblings, Connie (Bud) Calhoun, Tommy (Janet) Ebelhar, Alan (Sandy) Ebelhar, Mary Ann Monarch, Christa (Tony) Hundley, Brent (Judy) Ebelhar, Terry (Sabrina) Ebelhar, Joy Wimsatt, and Jeannie (Terry) Millay; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws whom she adored.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, with Father Pat Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visitation at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m..
