JR Richeson, 92, of Owensboro, passed away on January 4, 2025. He was born, in Ohio County, KY, on October 8, 1932, to the late John Robert Richeson and Earlie Bartlett Richeson. JR was a member of Lighthouse Community Church and Carpenter’s Union Local 549.
Friends and family describe JR as the happiest man in the world, who treated everyone like they were important. JR modeled the golden rule of “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, UK Basketball, and sports of all kinds, but his favorite pastime was spending quality time with his family.
Along with his parents, JR is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Richeson; his children, Cindy and Roger Richeson; his grandchild, Les Radford; and his siblings, Leathel Leach (Chery), Anna Bell Renfrow (Earnest), Margaret Baize (Charles), Louise Leach (Cosby), Betty Jo Henderson (Vernon), William Richeson (Guyneth), Donald Richeson (Sue), Hilton Richeson (Judy), and Marian Richeson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Angie Hayman (Mitch) and Lester Radford (Tina); 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Services will be held at noon on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home, with Reverend Billy Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visitation at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
