Ryan Maurice Murphy, 48, of Owensboro, died January 14, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. He was born to Robert and Jackie Murphy on November 21, 1976. Ryan was a beloved son, brother, father, husband, Pops, and friend. He had a passion for cars, music, and dancing, and cheering on his Louisville Cardinals. Spending time with his family was his #1 priority. Anyone who knew Ryan will never forget his infectious smile and his love for life.

In his younger years, Ryan was an avid basketball and baseball player. He was a member of the first Southern Little League All-star team out of Owensboro, to make an appearance at the Little League World Series. As an adult, he could often be found on a local basketball court where he gained many friendships. Recently, he developed a love for pickleball.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Celestine Adams; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Hazel Murphy; and a close cousin, William Taylor.

Along with his parents, Ryan is survived by his wife, Laurel Beaty Murphy; his three children, Cameron Murphy (Kayla), Carson Murphy, and Cortland Murphy; grandchildren, Karter, Kendrick, and Koda; twin brothers, Richard and Robert Murphy; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in the chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Calhoun Cemetery. The family will hold visitation to honor Ryan from 2:00pm – 7:00pm on Friday and on Saturday from 12:00pm – 2:00pm at the funeral home.
