James Henry “Jimmy” Smiley, age 66 of Cloverport, KY passed away January 18, 2025, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Tell City, IN on March 10, 1958, son of the late Sherman D. and Dorothy Ann McClellan Smiley.
He was a lifelong member of Cloverport Baptist Church and retired from Dal Tile after 45 years. Jimmy was a graduate of Frederick Fraze High School, was an avid U K fan and spent many years as a basketball coach and referee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law Ted Frank, Larry Henning, Ronnie Skinner and sister-in-law JoAnn Skinner.
Jimmy was a loving, devoted, caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by Cathy, his wife of 43 years.
3 children: James Jeffrey Smiley of Cloverport, KY; Misty Ann Smiley (Shane) of Tell City, IN and April Emery (Joseph) of Cloverport, KY
9 grandchildren: Tristan Greer, Quenton Smiley (Emma), Jaxon Smiley, Jordan Smiley, Mariah Smiley, Justice Smiley, Aden Emery, Brooklynn Emery and Layla Emery.
1 brother: Danny Smiley of Cloverport, KY
4 sisters: Connie Smiley of Cloverport, KY; Ann Henderson of Owensboro, KY; Marie Voiles and Sharon Henning of Hardinsburg, KY

Funeral services will be held at Cloverport Baptist Church on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 1 PM under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Thursday.
Expressions of sympathy are requested to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
