Paul Estes Johnson

October 27, 1930 - May 21, 2019

Paul Estes Johnson, 88, of Owensboro, passed away May 21, 2019 at Signature HealthCARE at Hillcrest, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born October 27, 1930 in Logan County, KY, to the late Ellis Estes Johnson and Enola Frances Boley Johnson. He was a self-educated man and loved to work hard for his family, owning and working Professional Home Cleaning, Quality Carpets, Steamway of Owensboro and Johnson Trucking. After retirement from his own businesses, you quite possibly would have seen him greeting you when you arrived at Wal-Mart. In his spare time through the years Paul enjoyed watching UK basketball games, NASCAR races and even owned and worked on his own late model stock car that was driven by one of his sons, Alan. He was a long-time member of Buena Vista and Walnut Memorial Baptist Church where he was a servant for the Lord and would have given you anything he had of his own, just to help you out.

He also was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Bernell Sims, Artie Shemwell and Nellie Cole; and two brothers, Larry Johnson and Richard Johnson.

Paul is survived by his loving and caring wife of 62 years, Beverly Jean Harrington Johnson; three daughters, Susan Toland (Denny), Michelle Johnson, and Kathy Miller all of Owensboro; two sons, Alan Johnson (Becky) of Owensboro and Randy Johnson (Penny) of Murfreesboro, TN; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Key; two brothers, Roy Johnson and Stanley Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral service for Paul Johnson will be Noon, Friday at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Travis Farris and grandson, Brett Johnson officiating. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 5 until 7 PM Thursday and from 10AM until time of service Friday at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Helping Hand Kitchen Ministry, Church Building Fund and Missions Scholarship Fund, all to Walnut Memorial Baptist Church.
