Mary Powers Nugent, 94, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on August 31, 1924 in Hancock County to the late Douglas & Zula Powers. She was a wonderful woman who was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Mary was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and retired from General Electric after 30 years of service. Mary is preceded in death by her siblings; Harold, Hazel, Verne, Frieda, Margie, Gladys, and S.L. “Doc”.
Survivors include her loving children, a son, Steve (Jackie) Nugent; two daughters, Joy (Herman) Beliles and Gail Lewis. She was a proud Mamaw to seven grandchildren, Brandon (Catherine) Nugent, Stephanie (Stephen) Brittain, Devin (Nikki) Nugent, Lori (John) Duke, Cody (Jenny) Weakley, Julie (Kevin) Askins, April (Danny) Wheatley; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one on the way ; one brother, Don Powers; one sister, Carolyn Carter; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:00 pm on Friday, May 24, 2019 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 11:00 am-2:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
