Ollie “Butch” Gene Wing, 77, of Owensboro passed away on February 7, 2025, He was born on May 25, 1947, in Muhlenberg County to the late Ellis Wing and Genevieve (Horace) Reed.
Ollie served the country in the National Guard and retired from National Linen. There wasn’t a sport he didn’t enjoy watching, especially when his grandchildren were playing. He loved Uk basketball and was the best pool player.
Along with his parents, Ollie is preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Karen Lee Russell Wing. A beloved sister Patricia Ann Hughes, a devoted “Uncle” George Williams, and Mrs. Janet Combs
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Tanya (Maurice) Clack, Ashlee Russell (Jermaine), LeKesha Dickerson, Almarrow Talbott, Lisa Drake Sharber, and Barbara Drake; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Alma Rowan, aka “Ride or Die”, Connie (Howard) Warner, James (Lynn) Russell, and his partner in crime David Phillps. He had an extended love for many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.
A memorial service for family and friends will be Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2711 Cravens Ave Owensboro, KY 42301.
