Edward Lyndall Barnes, 78, of Owensboro passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born November 5, 1946 in Louisville to the late Lyndall and Helen Stettenbenz Barnes. Edward retired from Boilermakers Local 40 and Alcoa. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of New Life Baptist Church. Edward read the Bible 32 times in his life and studied the Word daily. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. Edward had a wry sense of humor. He was always ready to help those in need. Edward loved to travel and visited 44 states with his sweetheart, Diane.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Dylan Bidwell; brother, Connie Barnes; and sisters, Linda Blandford Carolyn Smallwood.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Barnes; daughter, Shelly Bidwell (Darmon); granddaughter, April Gaines; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jackson, and Jamison Franklin; sisters, Betty Embry, Sheila Bramham, and Beverly Barnes; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025 in the chapel at Rosehill Cemetery officiated by Rev. Paul Gatewood. Entombment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery with military honors. James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
