James "Jimmie" Carl Chenault

March 31, 1936 - February 15, 2025

James “Jimmie” Carl Chenault, 88 of Utica, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2025, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on March 31, 1936, in Hardin County, Kentucky to the late Coleman & Alberta Chenault. Jimmie retired after 30 years from Daviess County School System as a middle school teacher. He was a devoted member, deacon, and trustee at Panther Creek Baptist Church. Jimmie was the clock operator official for the KWC Basketball for 37 years and was a Kentucky Colonel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lavenia Coffey Travis and Sue Gross.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, JoAnne Chenault; son, Jeff Chenault; daughter, Jenni Gilkey (Mike); four grandchildren, Garrett Gilkey, Grant Gilkey, Gatton Gilkey (Lacey), Walter Bailey Chenault; six great grandchildren, Morgan, Easley, Grayson, Cole, Max, Iver; brother, Larry Chenault (Linda); his beloved cat, Robbie, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 12:00 pm Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00-7:00 pm Monday, February 17, 2025, and after 10:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home.
