Kathryn “Katie” Jane Howard, 44, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 in Henderson, Nevada. She was the daughter of the late John H. Morton III and Linda Rutherford Morton. Katie was born April 18, 1980 in Louisville. She graduated from Daviess County High School in 1999. Katie worked as a CNA for Wendell Foster and River Valley Behavioral Health.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy Morton Thomas.
She is survived by her husband, Tommie Howard; children, Linda Morton and Elijah Johnson; step-children, Jurena Howard, Kelene Howard, and Dakyz Howard; siblings, John A. Morton Ted R. Morton (Michelle) and Amy L. Dawson (Patrick); foster sibling, Kassie Hopkins; nieces and nephews, E.J. Swift, Garrett Thomas, Teddy Morton, Aniya Dawson, and Jordan Dawson; aunt, Shelia Miller (Judge John D. Miller); a dear friend, Stacey Stefanopoulos; and her dog, Stink.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Christ Community Church. Visitation is from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Private burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
