Anita M. Carpenter Osborne

Anita M. Carpenter Osborne, 86 of Owensboro passed away February 12, 2025, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky – Heartford House. Anita was born in Defiance, Ohio to Authur and Gertrude Carpenter. After high school she studied at Mary Manse College, where she received her teaching degree. After college she left for the Philippines to teach for a year. On the way back to the states she met David F. Osborne on the ship. They got married shortly after returning to the states. She taught school at St Joe’s, St Mary’s, Sacred Heart and Vermillion Ohio Public school. Anita founded the Moneytree and the Book and Music Exchange. She also opened Owensboro’s first consignment shop, The Emporium, back in 1971. After she retired, she spent her winters in Palmetto, Florida.

 

She is survived by her sons, Daniel (Beth) Osborne and Joel Osborne; brothers, John (Amy) Carpenter and Steve (Connie) Carpenter; brother-in-law, Albert (Mary) Osborne; sisters in law, Patty Osborne and Marilyn Osborne; Mark (Bonnie) Hayden who was like a son to her; as well as many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
