Lola B. Fulkerson Whitesides

April 10, 1939 - May 29, 2019

Lola B. Fulkerson Whitesides, 80, of the Carmel Home, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Carmel Home. She was born April 10, 1939 in McLean Co. to the late John S. and Helen Corinne Sutton Fulkerson. Lola had been a member of Immaculate Catholic Church before moving to the Carmel Home several years ago. She was a 1958 graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy. Lola received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Brescia College and then her Master’s Degree from Indiana University. Lola retired from the Owensboro Catholic School System after many years of dedicated service as a teacher. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Charles W. “Bill” Fulkerson, Doug Fulkerson, Larry Fulkerson, Norma Jean Medley, Mary C. Kennedy, and Anna S. Clements, and two brothers-in-law, Robert E. Peters and Joseph Carl Medley.

Lola is survived by three sisters, Gladys M. Peters of St. Joseph, Joan Byrne and husband J. L. of Sorgho, and Sherry Holinde and husband Sam of Sorgho, a sister-in-law, Marilyn Fulkerson of Madisonville, and a brother-in-law, Don Clements of Curdsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass for Lola Whitesides will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 31, at the Carmel Home. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM Thursday with prayers at 6:30PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and from 9 AM until 10 AM Friday at the Carmel Home.
