Kae C. Fuqua

November 11, 1943 - May 31, 2019

Kae C. Fuqua, 75, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, May 31, at Wellington Parc. She was born November 11, 1943 in Webster Co. to the late Walter and Wesley Owen Blue Coomes. Kae was a member of Owensboro Christian Church where she sang in the choir and was retired after 35 years banking and management with 5th/3rd Bank. She had previously been a member of Thruston United Methodist Church for 20 years and was active in the Lions Club and the women’s auxiliary of the Thruston-Philpot Fire Department. She loved traveling, making quilts, water skiing, and spending a lot of time during the summers at Rough River. Kae had been an avid Kentucky Wesleyan College basketball fan for many years, and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She was a very amazing cook and loved making homemade ice cream. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Kae was also preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Coomes, and two brothers-in-law, William “Bob” Fuqua and Jon Holloman.

Kae is survived by her husband of 57 years, Buddy Ray Fuqua, her son, Steve Fuqua and wife Anita of Owensboro, her daughter, Cindy Heady and husband Todd of Maceo, five grandchildren, Evan and Easton Fuqua, Grace, Addison, and Ty Heady, two sisters, Reva Holloman of Hanson and Glenda Townsend and husband Mike of Slaughters, two brothers, Tommy Coomes and wife Lois of Madisonville and Jimmy Coomes and wife Peggy of Slaughters, two sisters-in-law, Wilma Coomes and Shirley Fuqua, both of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Wellington Parc for all their love and compassionate care they gave Kae and Buddy while she resided there.

The funeral service for Kae Fuqua will be Noon Monday, June 3, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 6 P.M. Sunday and 10 A.M. until Noon Monday at the funeral home.
