
Mary Alice Weise, 85, of Owensboro died peacefully while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky, surrounded by her family, on Monday, March 24, 2025. Alice was born in Owensboro on May 5, 1939, to the late Lucian Arthur and Lucian Maxentia Johnson Payne.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Alice was an exceptional seamstress and made many, clothes, doll clothes and quilts for her kids and grandkids.
A devout Catholic, Alice spent many years as a member of St. Martin’s Parrish, until her and her husband moved closer to town and became members of Immaculate Parrish.
In addition to her parents, Alice also was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William Louis Weise, her son William Louis Weise, Jr., her grandson Derek Weise, siblings, W.A. Payne, Eddie Payne, Joe Payne, Roland Payne, Robert Payne, Jerry Payne, Rosina Clark, Geneva Pate, Mary Jane Young, and Willa Mae Roberts.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her five children, Sharon (Kenny) Rudd, Karen (Art) Flewallen, Paula (Mark)Hayden, Keith (Kris) Weise, & Renee’(Carl) Henderson. 12 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great step-grandchildren and her sister Gretta VanBussum.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Thursday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with the Funeral Mass following at 12:00 p.m. at Immaculate Parrish. Burial will be in St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery.
The family of Alice wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Father John Vaughan and Father Ray Clark for all the love and spiritual guidance they offered the family of Alice during this difficult time. They also wish to express their gratitude to the staff at Heartford House for their invaluable support and care for both Alice and the family throughout this transition.
