Carl Ernest Sutherland, 83, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025. Carl was born on February 7, 1942 in Daviess County to the late Monroe and Lucy Sadler Sutherland. He enjoyed farming and gardening, making things grow. Carl worked as a pumper in the oil fields, he raised goats, chicken and pigs and loved his work. Carl was a member at Sugar Grove Baptist Church and attended Pleasant Ridge Church.
Carl is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Linda Sutherland, a daughter, Debbie Bartlett and a son William Rick Sutherland; a granddaughter, Jennifer Goodman Chappel and his siblings, Tommy, Charles, Gene and Larry “Boom Boom” Sutherland and Juetta Holmes.
Carl is survived by his children, James Sutherland, Carla (Marty) Goodman and Brad Sutherland; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sue (Oather) Ruby, Coy and James “BoBo” Sutherland and his daughter-in-law, Patricia Sutherland, wife of the late William Rick Sutherland.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, KY with burial following at New Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cecil Funeral Home.
