Bonnie L. Smith

Bonnie L. Smith, 70, of Utica passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 23, 1949 to the late Finis English and Mary Evelyn Sosh. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by the “dat-bum love of her life” of 45 years James L. Smith, brothers Harold English and Kenny English, sisters Fredia Lanktree and Wanda Butler, and family pet “Phoebe”.

Bonnie retired from UniFirst Corporation in 2011.

She took pride in her close-knit family and made sure no one felt like a stranger. Anyone that knew Bonnie appreciated her sense of humor and sassy sense of style. She was not a typical mamaw as she loved participating in our crazy family game nights.

Bonnie is survived by a daughter Cindy (Brian) Short of Calhoun; a son Derrick Smith of Owensboro; a friend who was like a son, Jeremy Crowder of Owensboro; two granddaughters Megan (Jordan) Durham and Mackenzie Short; Five sisters, Shelby (David) Lashbrook, Doris Brown, Brenda Leslie, Judy Strange, and Debbie (Sammy) Fulkerson; and brother Donald English, along with several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, with Brother Keith Withrow officiating. Burial will follow at Calhoun Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
