Doris Marie Payne

September 22, 1947 - June 4, 2019

Doris Marie Payne, 71, of Knottsville, passed away June 4, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born September 22, 1947 to the late Jack and Mary Etheleen Lanham. Doris was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. William Catholic Church. Doris enjoyed reading, cooking, and taking care of her family. She loved being a mother and grandmother and supporting her grandchildren in every way she could. Her family will remember her for being a strong and loving wife and mother and will miss her greatly.

Doris was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Sarah; and brothers, Sherman and Francis Lanham.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert A. Payne; 5 children, Roxi (Jeff) Goetz, of Whitesville, Kevin (Gretchen) Payne, of Knottsville, Kim (Corey) Hall, of Whitesville, Martin (Jill) Payne, of Knottsville, and Beth (Nathan) McNulty, of Lexington; 22 grandchildren, Austin, Logan, Jack, Caleb, Ben, Nick, and Lilly Goetz; T.J., Owen, Abby, and Sarah Payne; Landon, Cole, Lukas, Caroline, and Levi Hall; Thomas, Maggie, and Samuel Payne; Reagan, Anthony, and Cora McNulty, and one grandbaby on the way; sisters, Betty Ann (Gerald) Haynes, Barbara Millay, and Paula (Sam) Cecil; brothers, Leon Lanham, Kenny (Marguarite) Lanham, and Mark Allen Lanham; sister-in-laws, Francis Payne, Mary (Louis) Aull, Cynthia (Gene) Lanham, and Bonnie (Bill) Lanham; and brother-in-law, Dave (Debbie) Payne.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the family and friends who offered their support and prayers for Doris.

The funeral mass will be 12pm Friday at St. William Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. William Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2pm until 8pm Thursday, with prayers at 6pm at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory; and 10am until 11:30am Friday morning at the funeral home.
