Helen Maxine Summers

Helen Maxine Summers, 94, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born January 25, 1931 in Cobden, Illinois to the late Raymond and Elva Haley Chamness. Helen worked as a mental health technician for State of Illinois Shapiro Development Center. She was a member of First Church of Nazarene and was the Queen of the Roosevelt House. Helen was fun loving, hard working and loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Summers; a daughter, Cheryl J. Eagan; two sons, Steven Summers and John Summers; three brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by a son, Rodney Summers (Michelle) of Texas; a daughter-in-law, Susan Summers; five grandchildren, John Summers (Nancy), Michael Eagan, Jason Summers, Shelly Stallings (Mark), and Angie Kurz (Dave); 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sorgho. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
