Tim Mattingly, 52, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at his home on his farm in Pellville, surrounded by his loved ones.
Tim, born March 19, 1973, lived a life full of faith, kindness, and passion. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend — someone who never met a stranger and who made every gathering better just by being there. His greatest pride was his family, and he poured his heart into everything he did, whether it was raising his kids, working hard, riding horses, or lending a hand to anyone in need.
Tim married Denise Gray Mattingly, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and strong values over the course of their 29-year marriage.
His hands told the story of a life built on labor, commitment, and pride in a job well done. Tim spent more than 30 years working at Kimball International, beginning in 1992 and continuing until his passing. He also carried a lifelong love for horseback riding, and many will remember him best on horseback — calm, steady, and doing what he loved most.
Above all else, Tim’s faith was his foundation. It shaped the way he lived, treated others, and raised his family. He led by example, with a quiet but unwavering belief in grace, kindness, and the power of prayer. Tim graduated from Trinity High School in 1991 and remained a proud Raider for life.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Mattingly.
He is survived by his daughter Allison (Caleb Murphy), his son Mason, his parents Buddy and Janice Mattingly, and his in-laws Jeff and Teresa Gray. He is also survived by his sisters Cristi (Joseph) Edge, Carrie (Derek) Mills, and Shelley (Adam) Howard; along with his nieces and nephews Madison (Bret) Kannapel, Jamison Mills, Addison Mills, Emmy Edge, Kayin Howard, Tyler Howard, and Lauren Howard along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Those who wish to honor Tim’s memory are invited to make donations to the Tuition Assistance Program at St. Mary of the Woods School and Trinity High School — two places that held a special place in his heart.
The family requests that those attending the visitation wear their favorite Hawaiian shirt or a Tim’s Tribe shirt.
Tim’s spirit, laughter, and love for life touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
