Billi L. (O’Neal) McKenney, 54, Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on April 29, 2025. She was born in Louisville, KY on November 6, 1970, to Wayburn and Evelyn O’Neal. When she was a young girl, the family moved to Grayson County.
She received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Social Work from Western Kentucky (graduating with a 4.0 GPA). She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers as well as the WKU Alumni Association. She was a life-long advocate for vulnerable children working with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services in Child Support Enforcement and then as the Meade County Supervisor for Child Protective Services. She retired in 2024.
Billi had many passions – her family, a good homecooked meal, animals, gardening, history, reading, riding the motorcycle with her husband and traveling to the Smoky Mountains or the beach in Florida.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn, brothers Jim and Mark and many beloved pets.
In addition to her father, Billi is survived by the love of her life and her best friend, Steve, daughters, Tasha (Eli) Bain of Big Clifty, Samantha (Derek) Meredith of Leitchfield , sister, Elaine (John) Perryman of Louisville, grandchildren: Ella, Evelyn, Mae Mae and Walker Bain, Chandler, Brayden, Brei, Atlis and Abram Meredith, her Shih Tzus – Ruby and Ray, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00 – 3:00 (CDT) at the William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the American Cancer
Society in hopes of finding a cure.
