
Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Griesbaum Haycraft, born December 9, 1937, in Louisville, KY. The daughter of Leo Henry and Mary Catherine “Kitty” Jones Greisbaum, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Carmel Home. Mary Lou was predeceased by her sister Virginia Elizabeth(Bunny) Kennedy.
Mary Lou attended the Loretto School, Sacred Heart Model School, Sacred Heart High School, Webster University, and Ursuline College. During High School, Mary Lou met the love of her life and husband of 66 years, David Scott Haycraft, at a car crash in her neighborhood.
She is survived by her husband, her son, Scott Haycraft and his wife Martha of Atlanta, Georgia, and her daughter, Cathy Haycraft Bridges and her husband Mark of Kailua, Hawaii. She had five beloved grandchildren, Clayton Scott Haycraft and his wife Cassie Hammer of Olympia, Washington, David Clay Bridges and his wife Kaleigh of Denver, Colorado, Morgan Payne Haycraft and her fiancé Jackson Wood of Denver, Colorado, Matthew Bridges of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Haley Bridges of Santa Monica, California. She is also survived by her great grandson, Major Hammer-Haycraft and her beloved nephews and niece, Todd Kennedy, David Ray Robinson, Laura Robinson, and lifelong friend Shelia Ann Miller.
Mary Lou was a woman of many talents. She was an educator, operating her own preschool and kindergarten and teaching and volunteering at the Wendell Foster Center. She was a real estate agent and business owner, operating The Harbor Boutique, a clothing store. She was a wonderful cook and loved doing all types of needlework, especially sewing elaborate costumes for her children and grandchildren. Mary Lou loved to travel, especially when it involved visiting her children and grandchildren, as well as being an avid sailing enthusiast. She was also involved in her community through her commitment to and involvement in the Junior League of Owensboro.
Mary Lou will be dearly missed by all of her loving family and friends. We especially want to thank all of her caregivers and friends at the Carmel Home.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, June 13, 2025, at the Carmel Home Chapel with same day visitation from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Mary Lou will be interred in her final resting place with her parents and sister in The Calvary Cemetery, Louisville, KY.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Wendell Foster Center, The Humane Society of Daviess County, or the Good Fellows Club of Owensboro.
