
Peggy Dillon McDuffee, 82, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025. She was born on March 20, 1943, in Washington, IN, to the late Wilbur and Elizabeth Mattingly Dillon.
A proud graduate of Washington High School and Indiana State University, Peggy dedicated her life to education and the joy of learning. For 27 years, she was a beloved kindergarten teacher in the Daviess County School System, teaching at both Philpot Elementary and Maceo Elementary. Her fondest memory of teaching was her students and the annual school programs that showcased her love of music.
Peggy found beauty in life’s quiet moments, whether it was playing the piano, knitting blankets for loved ones, or composing poetry. She especially enjoyed playing card games and bingo with friends.
Peggy touched countless lives with her gentle spirit, creativity and unwavering kindness. She will be remembered not only for the lessons she taught in the classroom, but also for the love and light she brought to the lives of those around her.
Along with her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Blaine McDuffee.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Stephanie McDuffee (Robert) Hodskins and Adam (Lexie Hamilton) McDuffee; grandchildren, Lauren Hodskins (Lance) Smith, Logan Hodskins (Ricardo) Vazquez, and Zachary Hodskins, Dylan (Emily) McDuffee, Alexa McDuffee, Landon McDuffee, Lake McDuffee; and four great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date with burial at Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington, IN.
