Dominic Wayne Rates, age 25, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to his family. Dominic was a vibrant and caring soul who lived life with passion and joy. He loved sports, fishing, and golfing — always finding peace in the outdoors and excitement in competition.
Dominic’s greatest pride was being a father. He was the best dad to his two children and his fiancés two children — and cherished every moment spent with them. He brought warmth and fun into their lives, creating memories filled with love and laughter.
He is survived by his beloved children, Amari & Analaya Rates, loving fiancée, Kelly Baker, along with her two sons Jake & Connor, his devoted parents, Peggy and Leon Rates, and his nine siblings, Dwight Rates, Christy Crawford (Kris Crawford), Jacqueline Lynn Torrez Chavez (Jose Angel Torres Chavez), Kevin Rates, Sarah Wheatley (Lee Smith), Nick Marshall (Melonie Marshall), Ashley Mize (Mark Pace), Beth Rates, & his beloved twin brother, Michael Rates (Destiny Rates). Dominic’s energy, kindness, and unwavering love for his family will be missed beyond words.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday May, 10th at 1 p.m. at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel with visitation from 10:00 am until service. A private burial will be at a later date.
