Scott Burden, 52, of Sorgho, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on May 7, 2025. Born on October 29, 1972, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Scott was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend.
The son of Marcella Daniels Burden and the late Leslie Curtis Burden, Scott was raised in Livermore, Kentucky, and graduated from McLean County High School. He went on to become a respected project manager for DeBra-Kuempel and was a dedicated member of the Local Plumbers and Pipefitters Union 633 for over 30 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sara Elder Burden; his children, Whitney Alsup (Brad), Molly Burden, Michael Howard, Avery Burden, and Landon Burden; and his treasured grandchildren, Adeline and Reece Alsup. He is also survived by his siblings, Ronnie Burden (LaDonna) and Kimberly Bennett (Heath); his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dottie and Larry Elder; his brother-in-law, John Elder (Bonny); his sister-in-law, Jill Elder Cash. Scott was a fun-loving and proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A faithful member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Scott was actively involved in the church, giving generously of his time and spirit. He was a man of many nicknames and was known for his infectious smile, quick wit, and adventurous nature. Scott was always ready with a clever saying or a harmless prank, and valued time with his family, at the lake, camping, boating, and grilling baby back ribs. He was the family handyman, the one people turned to for fixing things or offering wise, grounded advice. Scott was the ideal role model to his children, nieces, and nephews.
To know Scott was to love him. His selfless nature, deep faith, and unwavering love for his family—especially his wife Sara and their children—were at the center of his life.
