Steve Tuttle

December 20, 1947 - May 7, 2025

Steve Tuttle

Steve was born to Walker Louis and Jessica Heppler Tuttle. He retired from Tuttle Dental Lab in 2023, ending a remarkable 55-year career as a certified dental technician. In that time and during his previous stint at Professional Dental Lab, he worked for over 50 dentists. As he would say, he “put more smiles on faces than a mortician!”

Steve loved his family, and his second love was coaching. Over decades and across a range of sports, Steve impacted the lives of hundreds of young athletes. He coached baseball at Western Little League, Eastern Little League, and a year of Babe Ruth, as well as basketball and football for the 5th-6th grade teams at Saint Stephen.

Above all, his favorite sport was Cross Country, which he coached for an impressive 20 years. He was assistant coach for Owensboro Elementary and Middle Schools, where he helped claim four state championships, and at Owensboro High School. A runner himself, Steve loved racing in 5Ks and mini-marathons, and he ran his fastest time at age 69.

Over the years, he met many nice people from all over. He loved meeting new people and helping others, and he was excited to talk to anyone he would meet. His happiest moments came from taking trips with his wife Donna, browsing antique stores and yard sales, golfing with his friends, playing chess, taking hikes, attending his grandkids’ extracurricular events, and spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his siblings, Sharon, Dalarna, Kenneth, and Lynn.

Remaining to cherish Steve’s memory and celebrate his life are his wife of 57 years, Donna Tuttle; his children and their spouses, Kim and Keith Willoughby of Owensboro, KY, Tabitha Ramos of California, Nick and Crystal Tuttle of Owensboro, KY, Stephanie Duncan of Newburgh, IN, Brandon Tuttle and Amanda Ewing of Owensboro, KY, and Cody Tuttle and Marisa Putnam of Austin, TX; his grandchildren and their spouses, Dylan and Jennaleigh Willoughby, Ryan Willoughby, Noah McGovern, Whitley McGovern, Tylo Berry, Rui and Noah Hopper, Courtney and KC Lamar, Dylan Cantrell, Jaden Statts, Addy Ewing, Carson, Bruce, and Ace Duncan, and Eleanor Tuttle; his great-grandchildren, Harvey and Oliver Lamar; his siblings, Camilla Frey, Kevin Coomes, and Mark Coomes; and his loving dog, Bogey.

Steve’s warm smile, his encouraging guidance, and his unending desire to help and befriend those around him will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Saint Stephen Cathedral. Burial to follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visitation at Saint Stephen Cathedral, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of charitable donations to Crossroads Women’s Shelter at 1631 Breckenridge Street, Owensboro, KY 42303.
