ST. CHARLES, MO – Richard Allen Brown, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, departed this world on May 12, 2025, at his home in St. Charles, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 8, 1944, in Evansville, Indiana, Richard lived a life defined by his generosity, warmth, and a true passion for helping others.

For three decades, Richard served as the Supervisor for the building and grounds at the bulk mail center for the United States Postal Service, where he was known for his exemplary work ethic and the deep respect he earned from his colleagues. His approachable demeanor and outgoing personality made him a favorite among friends and coworkers alike, as he was always eager to lend a hand or share a kind word.

Richard’s heart was equally devoted to his family. He proudly celebrated 57 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joan Brown, whom he married on June 10, 1967. Together, they nurtured a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their union was one of Richard’s proudest accomplishments, alongside raising two loving sons, Scott (Marissa) Brown and David (Michelle) Brown.

As a grandfather, Richard found boundless joy with his grandchildren: Nicholas, Ellie, Lillian, Connor, Gavin, and Emma Brown. He treasured every moment spent with them, fostering bonds that will forever resonate through their lives. His love for children extended beyond his family. Richard’s kindness and generous spirit endeared him to many, earning him the affectionate title of “Mr. Fix-it” among those who knew him. Outside of his family and career, Richard was actively involved in his church, where he volunteered his time and talents. His passion for 50s music and old cars brought him countless moments of joy, as he often shared these interests with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his sons, Scott (Marissa) and David (Michelle); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Ellie, Lillian, Connor, Gavin, and Emma; his siblings, Phillip (Tess) Brown and Diane McCarthy; and a multitude of friends and admirers whose lives he touched. He joins in eternal rest his parents, Phoenix and Olene Brown, and his brother, Charles Brown.
Richard’s legacy of love, friendship, and unwavering support will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
