Florence “Martina” Blandford, 91, of Owensboro, passed away, on May 15, 2025. She was born, on May 7, 1934, in Waverly, KY to the late Roy and Willie Florence (Mills) Thomas. Martina worked as a Switchboard Operator at Mount Saint Joseph for many years.
Martina was a proud member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, flowers and gardening, and watching her hummingbirds.
Along with her parents, Martina is preceded in death by three children, Mary Jacqueline, Pamela Jean, Glenn Martin; her great-grandchild, Angel Combs; her brothers, Frank, Raymond, Jim, and Bill Thomas, and her sisters, Margaret Bickett, Kathleen Phillips, Dorothy Louise Thomas.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Keith Blandford (Kathy), Barry Blandford (Kathy), Joe Blandford (Lee Ann Hurm), and Kenny Blandford (Kathy); her grandchildren, Christi McCarthy (Ray), Stacy Combs (Brian), Rebecca Schwartz (Kevin), Hadley Meserve (Wes), Holly Blandford, Lauren Fogle (Brandon), RaKay Clary (Dusty), Ethan Blandford (Katie); 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Bob Thomas and Sue Mary Thomas.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, May 19, 2025, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visitation at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
